WOODLAND CRAFTS AND MANAGEMENT

ESAMP manages five acres of ancient woodland. The woodland is made up of hazel coppice with standards of oak, ash, cherry, willow and alder. ESAMP trainees help to manage the coppice and plant new trees. Training is given in woodland management, tree identification, coppicing, planting, hand tool usage and maintenance.

The wood produced from this programme of environmental management is used for the reconstruction of early buildings, coracle building, hurdle making, pole lathing and charcoal burning. ESAMP trainees can gain experience in all of these areas.
